Fairbanks hosts the International Ice Sculpting Championship. Ice sculptors from all over the World come to scup there best. From small sculptures from one block of ice to huge multi-block ice formations the size of a house (see the Chinese Dragon Boat). Sometimes the ice shatters as it is cut and sometimes the sun will get real hot and start melting the art. It is a race against the sun to create these things, but most stay around for about 2 weeks.
