After our stay in Bangkok, we traveled to Chaing Mai, in
the upper portion of Thailand. Chaing Mai means "New City." After getting there,
we went to a "Khantoke" Dinner. (Khantoke means a pedestal tray used as a small
dining table.) The next day we went to Chaing Dao (City Star) and fed and rode
the elephants. They took us to a local tribe in the forest. Afterwards, we
had dinner and a raft ride down a river. The next day we went to "Wat Phra
That," a temple with a green glass Buddha statue. It was a wonderful trip.

Donna feeds the elephants bananas and sugarcane, while we wait for the elephant show to begin.
Dustin also fed the elephants sugarcane and bananas before the show.
The show starts out with the elephants getting a bath in the river.
Donna walks down a trail to the local village, where we saw tribal customs and crafts.
This guy was the driver of our elephant, relaxing while we toured the village.
While in the village, we saw 2 little girls playing in the shade. I shot this picture of them playing.
This carpenter is part of the Hmong tribe. He kept working as the tour of people came through. Our presence didn't slow him down at all.
After the village tour, the group of elephants walked down the river.
This Temple is called Wat Phra That. I caught the sun glimering past the temple.
This is a green glass Buddha that was at Wat Phra That Temple.
Another view of the Wat Phra That Temple.
We stopped at a flower garden as we left the elephants and it was swarming with butterflies like this one.
At another Elephant Show, Donna get up close and personal with the elephant.
The show showed us how the elephants can be trained to follow directions as easily as a pet, such as sitting and even playing ball.
Dustin also got up close and personal with the elephants.
Before we left the show we were able to get someone to take a picture of both of us with the elephant.
